Season: All year
Departure: Every day
This is a mind-blowing flight across Iceland´s most spectacular natural sights in a small aeroplane with your own pilot. Within minutes of leaving Reykjavík you will be crossing Þingvellir, the divide where Iceland is being ripped apart by the forces that shape the planet, and will be heading towards the volcanoes and ice caps of South Iceland. We´ll take in the ice-capped volcanoes of Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull and Iceland´s most famous queen of volcanoes, Hekla, which erupts every ten years or so as is now swelling in preparation for the next big explosion. In sharp contrast to the barren lava of Hekla your pilot will show you the crazy colours of Landmannalaugur, the idyll of the thunder god´s own forest (Þórsmörk), the torrent of water crashing over Gullfoss and the bubbling mud of the great geyser, Geysir.
This is a truly unforgettable experience over wild and exciting landscapes. Reykjavik is situated so close to this other-world that this one a half hour flight easily encompasses innumerable magnificent views. To fly here is truly thrilling – you get so close and can see so much more than you can by road. Avoid the tour buses, the little hire cars and sweep above it all - save your driving time for super-jeeps and snowmobiles! For groups of less than 4 the tour will last 1 and a quarter hours and 1 and three quarter hours for tours of more than 4.
